How to use cross margin on Kwenta

Cross Margin Dashboard

Below, you'll find the main dashboard for the beta of cross margin on Kwenta; from here, you'll get an overview of everything Futures, any open positions, and markets available to trade.
Cross margin is the default margin type when traders come to Kwenta. If you find yourself needing to switch between isolated margin and cross-margin, hit the Futures tab at the top left and select either Isolated MarginorCross Margin.

    Here you will find notifications, display options, the selected network, and the connected wallet. If no wallet is connected, it will show a Connect Wallet button.

    Displays Current Portfolio value including any unrealized P&L

    This area has a quick overview of any open positions a trader currently has. Traders can switch to see any open positions on either cross margin, isolated margin or their synth spot holdings.

    The Futures Markets table displays assets available to trade, their name, current price, and percentage changed over time; selecting one of these assets will take you to their main trading interface.

Understanding the Kwenta Futures Trading Interface

The markets interface will look identical across any of the tradable assets on Kwenta Futures and will be the central information hub for the asset you're currently trading.
1. The menu section contains links to other pages for Kwenta, including Dashboard, Cross margin, Exchange, and the Leaderboard.
2. Here you will find notifications, display options, the selected network, and the connected wallet. If no wallet is connected, it will show a Connect Wallet button.
You can switch networks by selecting the network on the UI and selecting an available network
3. Here, you will find trade history on a given asset with an optional toggle to display a list of assets tradeable on Kwenta. Resting atop this panel is the assets current skew.
Skew is the total number of outstanding long and short contracts expressed as a percentage.
4. This area displays a price chart of the chosen contract. As well as market details:
  • The asset that's being traded (e.g. ETH-PERP) and it's current oracle price.
  • External Price - Assets instantaneous price (non-oracle price)
  • 24H Change - Dollar amount change of an asset on a rolling 24h basis
  • 24H Volume - The total amount of sUSD that's been traded on a rolling 24h basis
  • 24H Trades- The total amount of completed trades on a rolling 24h basis
  • Open Interest - The total size of all outstanding positions within the assets market
  • Funding Rate - A continuous funding rate is levied on Kwenta and is charged when the position is closed. Funding by design is to incentivize balance in the open interest. Positions on the heavier side of the market will be charged funding, while positions on the lighter side will receive funding. (Positive funding = Short positions pay Long positions), while (Negative funding = Long positions pay Short positions)
4. In this box, you'll find all the pertinent information pertaining to your open position. It allows you to navigate between your position, (open) orders, trades and transfers (deposits and withdrawals).
  • Asset name - Displays the open positions asset, e.g. ETH-PERP, and it's current value in sUSD
  • Position Direction - Long or Short
  • Total Position size - In asset denomination and its current sUSD value
  • Net Funding Rate - Displays the current funding rebated or paid up until this point
  • Unrealized P&L - Displayed in sUSD and a percentage and is profit and or loss that hasn't been settled yet
  • Realized P&L - Displayed in sUSD and a percentage and is profit and or loss that has been settled
  • Your current leverage - Displays a positions effective leverage at the moment
  • Liquidation Price - If the oracle price of the contract reaches the liquidation price when long or short, your position will be liquidated
  • Entry Price - Average executed buy/sell price for your current position
5. This is your order entry panel. Place orders either Long (Buy) or Short (Sell). Enter the amount you wish to purchase of an asset and a notional value or by dragging the Slider to their desired position size.
  • Market Selector - Select the asset you wish to trade
  • Selected Margin Mode - Ether Isolated or Cross
  • Cross-Margin Account Details
    • Free Account Margin - Total amount of unused (available) sUSD in your CM account
    • Market Margin - sUSD collateral allocated to the selected markets position
    • Margin Usage - Percentage of margin used across all markets
    • Account ETH Balance - Cross-Margin ETH balance (users will need to deposit .01 ETH into the cross-margin account, to execute advanced orders)
    • Leverage - Current Leverage and leverage selector
  • Order Type (Cross-Margin)
    • Market - Execute an order at current oracle price
    • Limit order - Set an entry order to execute at a specified trigger price
    • Stop-market - Increase or decrease risk by setting a trigger price once the asset has traded at or through a specified price (the "stop price") the order will execute
Fee Rejection is available when using cross margin if the total fees exceed this specified parameter the transaction will revert.
  • Amount - Use the slider or enter a position size in either sUSD or asset denomination (switch between the two by selecting the double arrows)
    • Protocol Fee - Fees imposed by Synthetix for making use of their contracts
    • Cross Margin Fee - Fees paid for orders routed through the margin account contracts
    • Total Fees - Sub-total of all fees to execute an order
